23rd July was the date that Amy Winehouse passed away. Now 9 years ago. We remember the Queen of Camden.

Amy was born in Southgate, north London, in 1983. As a talented young singer and musician she went on the release her first album, Frank, was released in 2003.

Back to Black was released in October 2006, and featured the band of Dap-Kings. This album put Amy into the spotlight with it winning many awards.


Amy Winehouse was always present in Camden, from pulling pints behind the bar to taking to the stages of Camden’s music venues. Her house at Camden Square is where she was found, for the last time.

Camden embraced Amy, as an artist and as a resident. The Amy Winehouse Statue can be found in Camden Market, and a lot of street art still appears featuring Amy.
