The price to travel around London using public transport has increased today.
March 1st 2021 sees an increase in pricing across all TFL networks of an average of 2.6%. All passengers combined will pay an extra £60 million per year.
The increase comes as TFL have had a slow income due to passengers not using the networks for the past year. This is due to people working from home and commuting less generally.
Passengers looking to travel only within Zone 1 won’t be hit too hard, however those travelling across multiple zones – like most people looking to travel from an outer zone to Zone 1 will need to pay a higher fee.
Fares have risen 42% in the period 2008-2016.
Perhaps it’s time to consider using a Santander ‘Boris Bike’ as their fees have not increased.
