The Talacre Community Sports Centre in Camden Town has secured £1.5m investment to improve and upgrade its facilities.

The centre is on Prince of Wales Road and Dalby Street, right next to the Kentish Town overground station. It is one of the area’s leading sports facilities. It’s a 30 second walk from Camden Town Brewery.

Last year around 250,000 visitors turned up to improve their fitness, using the indoor and outdoor spaces. After 15 years, the indoor area needs updating.

The funding comes from Camden Council as well as GLL who are the management company. Additional funding comes from the London Marathon Charitable Trust, who donates funds to improve and encourage increased physical activity.

The Talacre Centre is home of Camden Gymnastics Club, located at inner London’s only dedicated gymnastics facility.

The sports hall, gymnastics hall, floodlit astro-pitch outside, and Treetops – a wonderful place for young children to be entertained, forms a part of this centre.

Local residents can have their say to suggest the needed upgrades.

“I want more Camden residents to get active, especially those that don’t regularly undertake any physical activity as their health and well-being would benefit greatly. Increasing the capacity of the centre means more opportunities for everyone to get active, have fun and feel great.” Councillor Jonathan Simpson, Cabinet Member for Promoting Culture and Communities.
