One of London’s most historic locations, and tourist destinations is under threat of having to close.

Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, located on the Southbank, has been shut since the closure of venues, shops, and pretty much everything else due to COVID-19.

They are asking for emergency funding from the government under its Arts Council England’s relief. But, they are told that it’s ineligible.

The Globe Theatre does not get funding from Arts Council England (ACE), which means it can’t access ACE’s main £90m emergency relief fund.

There will be a Readathon to help raise funds. £50 million is needed, so donations from individuals, but importantly large companies, financial institutions, and others should all feel the need to participate
