St Pancras International played host to Grammy, Tony and Emmy Award-nominated singer, songwriter, actress, and author Sara Bareilles today, with an exclusive live performance of her new song ‘Fire’ from the performer’s upcoming album ‘Amidst The Chaos’, set for release on April 5th via Sony RCA as well as previous hit songs ‘Brave’ (Blessed Unrest, 2013), and the iconic single ‘Love Song’ (Little Voice, 2007) on the station’s main concourse.

Bareilles took to the St Pancras pianos ahead of this evening’s official opening night for Waitress in the West End, a smash hit musical on Broadway for which Sara composed the music, earned her first Tony Award nominations for “Best Musical” and “Best Original Score” and a 2017 Grammy nomination for “Best Musical Theatre Album.” Due to popular demand, the London production of Waitress has recently extended its booking period to 21 October at the Adelphi Theatre.

Sara joined forces in the studio with legendary Academy® Award-winning producer T Bone Burnett for the highly anticipated new album, Amidst The Chaos. As a result, the album spotlights her voice as a singer and storyteller like never before, while making an enduring statement.

To announce her forthcoming album, Sara chose to delight St Pancras International’s commuters and visitors with a surprise performance on one of the station’s legendary pianos – played by world famous musicians including Elton John, John Legend and Jeff Goldblum, as well as the public day to day. Elton John gifted one piano to St Pancras International in 2016 and since then, the pianos have become an integral part of the station’s community over the years, creating a destination for exciting arts and culture experiences.

Across the pond, Bareilles recently co-hosted the Tony awards and was nominated for numerous accolades including Emmy and Grammy Awards for her role in “Jesus Christ Superstar in Concert. This continued an impressive run of music and creative projects – not least, making her Broadway acting debut in 2017 as the lead role in the hit musical, Waitress, which is now taking the West End by storm.

She said, “Pop up performance!! My favourite. Thank you to St Pancras International and all the gorgeous smiling faces who came out!! What a treat!!”
