Emerging architectural practice, Studio MUTT, to carry out improvements to Camden Gardens.

Camden Gardens is a 0.2ha park located beneath the western end of the proposed Camden Highline route.

Improvements to the park will support the Camden Highline’s activities and act as a gateway to the project while fundraising continues.

Studio MUTT’s underlying mission is to create characterful projects which are unique, specific and joyful. Plans for improvements to the park, 5-minutes from Camden High Street, include new planters, seating and wayfinding for the public to enjoy, and will support the Camden Highline’s walking tours, education and volunteering activities.

Simon Pitkeathley, Chief Executive of the Camden Highline said: “We want to realise the potential of this underused and underappreciated space. Our panel of Camden Council and Camden Town Unlimited and Community Representatives were really impressed by Studio MUTT’s proposal, which combines a bold and playful approach with functional solutions to address the challenging site. We hope the improvements will help reduce antisocial behaviour and make the park more usable for everyone in Camden.”

“We’re continuing to run regular volunteering sessions and need help with litter picking, gardening and everything in between! You can help by signing up via the website, www.camdenhighline.com.”

Over 30 people have volunteered their time, litter picking – sweeping and clearing paths, smoothing gravel and giving the park some much needed care and attention ahead of the improvements. Camden Gardens – becoming a better, cleaner space.
