It’s the London Marathon this weekend on 22nd April where many runners hit the streets for a medal and to raise funds for charity.
40,000 runners will be taking part in the London Marathon this year. The race is 26.2 miles long. For some it will be a race against time, for others it’s merely to cross the finish line.
The real heroes are those running it for charity. You can also see celebrities such as Gordon Ramsay, Katie Price, Chris Evans, and Scott Mills in full stride.
There will be road closures which you can see on this map. If you’re planning a trip to central London be sure to be aware of this in advance. The areas around Greenwich and Cutty Sark do get very busy, so spectators should choose a good viewing place along the route.
To donate to a charity, WAR CHILD is based in Kentish Town and any donation appreciated.
Good luck to everyone running the race!
