In a move to continue promoting a healthy lifestyle for London, Transport for London is planning to ban all junk food advertising on the whole London Transport network.
Child obesity is something that all major cities are facing, with the easy access to junk food – on any high street, near schools, almost within walking distance from wherever you are. London Mayor Sadiq Khan believes that not exposing children to all the advertising for junk food will help tackle the issue.
The UK already has an advertising ban on high fat, sugar and salt products in selected media.
This is a bold move, supported by the likes of Jamie Oliver, however it’s just a small step. Advertising for junk food is present on many social media channels to which children are regularly exposed.
We at Camden Town London promote healthy choices ourselves. There is so much choice in Camden – with all the healthy food stalls, great restaurants, and a market full of choice, why would you want to go to fast food restaurant? Just take a look at all the choice at KERB Camden.
