A new café has opened up in Camden Town, and it has a wonderful name: Hygge Pygge. It’s on Chalk Farm Road, so needless to say we popped in for lunch to find out more.
The upstairs space is light, spacious, and comfortable. A counter shows the treats they have available on the day. Importantly, there’s a good coffee machine, a good lunch menu, and comfortable seating.
The word Hygge describes the Danish ritual of enjoying life’s simple pleasures – friends, family, graciousness. The owners have achieved what they’ve set out to do.
Looking at the menu, they have fresh salads, a good choice of breakfasts, fresh smoothies, and more. In fact, this could be one of our favourite new brunch spots in Camden Town.
Downstairs unveils a lovely surprise of bean bags, children’s books, and highchairs, making this one of the most child-friendly spaces in Camden Town. The reclaimed wood panelling they use throughout is a nice touch, doing their bit for nature, and it looks good too.
Hygge Pygge is located right opposite the Camden Stables Market, so for passers-by looking for a caffeine hit it’s well worth picking up one of their highly advocated coffees. If you have a few minutes extra or are looking for a friendly place to meet for brunch, this new café ticks all the right boxes.
Each week they offer different salads for eat-in or takeaway and these are well prepared. An example of this is the lentil, feta and cherry tomatoes salad with fresh lemon dressing. For breakfast they offer, among others, Greek yoghurt and homemade granola with fresh fruit.
Hygge Pygge is a new café that is independently owned, and serves up a delicious plate of food. Highly recommended.
