The Elizabeth Line has been given an official opening date by TFL. We’ll see how this changes the lives of London commuters.

The idea of Crossrail was to join up Paddington with Liverpool Street and construction began way back in 2009.

From December 9th commuters will be able to hop onto one of their brand spanking new trains to get around. The whole line won’t quite be completed by then, with Stage 4 and Stage 5 (to join up Reading) but it’s an impressive start.

To get from Reading to Abbey Wood, or Heathrow to Shenfield will just be a train ride away.

TFL expect this to ease congestion on the Underground Network and make the journey for many commuters faster and more comfortable.

If you live out of town, this means you will be able to commute to Tottenham Court Road or Liverpool Street for the Northern Line even faster, to get to Camden Town.
